The University of Madras (Madras University) is a public state university situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Madras University is one of the three universities in India and others are University of Calcutta & University of Mumbai. The university was established in 1857 by the Act of Legislative Council of India. It is one of the oldest university in south India.
